I was the Journey To Reborn Launch at Atterbury Theatre lat week. Pedro Barbosa’s EP was released on all major digital platforms and on CD last week.
Here’s my review of Pedro Barbosa’s Journey To Reborn Launch at Atterbury Theatre
Barbosa put on an amazing show and told great stories. The 2 hour show gave insight into his 10 year personal and musical journey before the release of his debut EP (Reborn) in 2018.
I’ve known Pedro Barbosa since the early 2000s. It was great to relive the Arcadia days. I still remember when our friend’s VW Beetle got stolen in Wessels Street. I also remember Pedro and Louis jamming tunes in a youth hostel room in Sunnyside.
It was also great to think back to the Mrs B days. Pedro and I had lost contact at some point and I bumped into him at STRAB in Mozambique in 2009. I watched Mrs B perform regularly over the next few years. I saw plenty of clips of me taking photos of their shows and it brought back great memories.
I really can’t remember all the crazy shit that went down at those shows, but I do remember that I always had fun (especially at places like Arcade Empire, Mokha Rock Lounge and festivals like Vredefest). I was also lucky to watch their final performance at STRAB in 2014. It was also great to listen to The Barbosa Experience songs and stories.
The Journey To Reborn Launch was a showcase for Pedro Barbosa’s musical range and depth. I’m glad I experienced this. I wish my friend all of the best with his musical endeavors.
