Ananya Releases New Single: “Falling”

Ananya continues her journey of blending worlds and emotions in her latest release, “Falling” – a track that finds her suspended in the messy middle of vulnerability, desire, and self-awareness.

Rooted in her Zimbabwean heritage, shaped by London’s energy, and coloured by Cape Town’s sunsets, Ananya’s music captures life’s in-between moments with unfiltered honesty.

Produced by Patch Boshell, “Falling” pairs upbeat rhythms with emotionally charged lyrics. It’s bright and groove-laden, yet beneath the surface, it wrestles with the complexity of falling for someone at the wrong time.

Ananya’s lyrics explore restraint, heartbreak, and the friction between desire and self-protection – a raw internal conflict wrapped in a sleek pop package.

“I wrote it in a place where I was questioning everything,” Ananya explains. “My boundaries, my emotional honesty, and whether I was getting too close to someone who wasn’t ready. It’s that internal tug-of-war between heart and logic.”

While her debut EP i woke up one night surpassed a million streams, Ananya’s focus has always been more about connection than numbers.

Her songs speak to restless nights, quiet introspection, and the complex tangle of feelings we often keep hidden. With “Falling”, she offers another poignant moment – this time, one you can dance to while still feeling every word.

“Falling” had its first public outing during a Glamour Magazine South Africa livestream at the height of the pandemic. Broadcast from her family home in Harare, the acoustic performance struck a chord.

“It was surreal. I was singing about vulnerability to a camera, but somehow it connected,” she recalls. That stripped-down version has since evolved into a full-bodied production, but its emotional core remains intact.

With more singles lined up and a 2026 EP in the works, Ananya is entering a new chapter — one where healing and heartbreak go hand in hand.

“I hope ‘Falling’ speaks to anyone who’s ever had to bite their tongue and pretend they’re okay,” she says. “I wanted it to feel like you’re moving through your own emotional mess with just enough rhythm to keep going.”
