During an exclusive media briefing in Johannesburg, Executive Vice President Ms. Stella Li described South Africa as a pivotal market and a future springboard for regional growth.

In a game-changing announcement, BYD revealed plans to install between 200 and 300 public charging stations across South Africa by 2026, making electric mobility more accessible to drivers nationwide.
Li also confirmed the rollout of ultra-fast 1MW charging technology, which will support a new generation of BYD’s upcoming models capable of utilizing high-speed charging infrastructure. This development marks a major leap forward in the country’s EV readiness.

Their NEV technology, particularly PHEVs, provides the flexibility the local market requires while laying the groundwork for a fully electric future.

As part of its plan to support EV adoption, BYD South Africa has partnered with ABSA to provide tailored finance solutions, making new energy vehicles more accessible to local consumers.
The company is also collaborating with Eskom and other government entities to enhance South Africa’s EV infrastructure, including grid readiness and renewable energy integration for charging networks.
