South African artist Dan Duminy returns with his latest single, “You Don’t Know Me,” making a bold statement of self-expression and authenticity.
Inspired by Duminy’s desire to create deeply resonant music, “You Don’t Know Me” captures the essence of true identity.
“I aimed to write a song that people can genuinely relate to, emphasizing that others might think they know you, but they don’t. Only a select few close friends and family truly know the real you,” Duminy explains.

Dan Duminy collaborated with his best friend Jordan James on this single
The track blends their shared vision and musical synergy. Describing his current sound, Duminy says, “It’s different and definitely in a pop space. It’s hard to pinpoint and describe my sound, but I definitely think it’s something unique.”
Having recently gone independent, Dan Duminy is enjoying the freedom and control this new phase provides.
“The most empowering thing about being independent is knowing that I am in full control of everything I’m doing, from the creative side to the business side. I love being able to release music when I want and give my fans more of what they love,” he shares.
Reflecting on his journey in the music industry, Duminy finds the creative process to be the most rewarding aspect.
“I love being creative and exploring my creativity through music. It has allowed me to meet some of the best people I’ve ever met.” he says.
However, he acknowledges the challenge of patience required to navigate the industry’s ups and downs.
“The most challenging part is definitely the waiting game and having the patience and perseverance to keep pushing and keep working. But I strive to be the best version of myself and keep making the best music I can.” he shares.
‘You Don’t Know Me’ is a precursor to more exciting releases from Duminy. While working on an album over the past few years, he hints at the possibility of an EP featuring songs that didn’t make the album.
“Depending on how the next few singles perform, we might see an EP this year, but it’s more likely early next year. There’s definitely a lot more music to come in 2024,” Dan Duminy reveals.
