Jacaranda FM’s charitable program, Good Morning Angels, has made a significant contribution to animal welfare by donating over R100,000 to four animal sanctuaries. This generous gift will support the ongoing efforts of committed individuals and organizations dedicated to helping animals in distress.
Deirdre King, Managing Director at Jacaranda FM, expressed the station’s pride in backing these animal sanctuaries through their initiative.
She commended the inspiring work of these organizations and emphasized Jacaranda FM’s commitment to creating a positive influence in the community. King stated that this donation exemplifies one of the many ways the radio station aims to make a difference.
Paws and Purrs Animal Rescue
Upon returning from a hospital stay, Lexi Lines, who founded Paws and Purrs Animal Rescue near Magaliesburg, faced a heartbreaking situation.
The caretakers entrusted with the sanctuary had vanished, leaving the facility unsecured. As a result, two of the 17 rescue dogs and the beloved pet pig, Waddles, lost their lives.
In response to this crisis, Good Morning Angels intervened with much-needed support. Warm Fest, in collaboration with the Round Table, provided R3,000 for blankets.
Additionally, The Good Morning Angels Fund contributed R10,000 to cover food and medical expenses for the animals. This timely assistance helped address the immediate needs of the sanctuary following the unfortunate incident.
No More Tears Animal Rescue
Since its establishment in 2021 by Stephan Hendriks, No More Tears Animal Rescue has emerged as a crucial resource for animals and pet owners in Randfontein.
This organization dedicates itself to rescuing stray animals, providing them with necessary medical attention, and facilitating their adoption into caring homes.
Beyond animal rescue, they extend their services to the community by offering assistance with veterinary care, sterilization procedures, and educational programs about responsible pet ownership.
Recognizing the importance of their work, the Good Morning Angels Fund has contributed R30,000 to No More Tears Animal Rescue. This generous donation will bolster their efforts to assist low-income residents with veterinary care and pet sterilization, furthering their mission to improve animal welfare in the community.
FORA – Friends of Rescued Animals
In a devastating incident last month, FORA (Friends of Rescued Animals) experienced a cruel act of animal cruelty when 14 of their dogs were poisoned in their kennels.
Despite regular monitoring by FORA staff and their security team, the tragedy resulted in the death of 12 dogs, while two others were urgently taken to a veterinarian for treatment.
To assist FORA in recovering from this incident and strengthening their security measures, The Good Morning Angels Fund provided a R30,000 donation.
This financial support will help cover the expenses of installing security cameras, reinforcing fencing, and implementing other crucial safety measures to protect the animals in their care from future threats.
Wet Nose Animal Rescue Centre
Wet Nose Animal Rescue Centre has been a sanctuary for abandoned, abused, and neglected animals since its inception in July 1999. Operating as a Right to Life animal shelter, the center is committed to rescuing, rehabilitating, and finding new homes for animals in distress. At any given time, Wet Nose provides care for more than 600 animals, offering them a safe haven until they can be placed in permanent, loving homes.
In recognition of their tireless work, the Good Morning Angels Fund has made a R30,000 donation to Wet Nose Animal Rescue Centre. This financial support will help the organization continue its mission of providing essential care and shelter to animals in need, furthering their impact on animal welfare in the community.
Through its Good Morning Angels initiative, Jacaranda FM has demonstrated a strong dedication to animal welfare by contributing more than R100,000 to support four distinct animal rescue organizations. This substantial donation reflects the community’s commitment to aiding animals in distress.
