The track captures the beauty, soul and emotional pull of one of South Africa’s most iconic regions, unfolding like a journey through the Eastern Cape’s coastline and heartland – from the golden sands of Port Alfred to the forests of Tsitsikamma, the waves of Jeffreys Bay, and the rolling hills of the Amatola.
Anchored by vivid storytelling, the song reflects on memory, belonging and the quiet ache of distance, with lyrics that speak to the magnetic pull of place and identity: “Take me back to the Eastern Cape, Where the ocean sings and the wild winds escape, From the sunrise shores to the rolling plains, I’ll find my joy where my heart remains.”
“These lyrics really came from a place of longing,” says Jack Atlantic. “I’ve spent the past few years based in Gauteng, chasing dreams and city sunsets, but a part of me has always stayed behind – by the ocean, the landscapes, and the people who made me who I am. This song is about returning to that feeling of belonging.”
From Addo’s elephants to the misty hills of Hogsback, “Take Me Back” celebrates the Eastern Cape’s natural magic and its timeless connection to memory and identity.
The single also serves as the emotional centrepiece of Jack Atlantic’s upcoming Eastern Cape Tour, taking place this December, where he’ll perform across beloved coastal towns and cities including East London, Gqeberha, Hamburg, Katberg and Port Alfred.
