South African singer-songwriter Keely Crocker returns with her most emotionally charged release to date, unveiling her brand-new single, “Things could be different”.
The stunning pop ballad captures the profound ache of heartbreak, the vulnerability of healing, and the ultimate strength found in letting go.

Tender yet powerful, “Things could be different” marks a significant milestone in Keely’s artistic journey as her first collaborative release.
The track was co-written alongside the talented Mila Smith and brought to life through the production of Aidin Nortje. Written in just a single day, the song taps into a deeply personal space, revealing a level of raw honesty that resonates long after the final note.
A Breakthrough in Co-Writing and Personal Release
For Keely, the collaborative writing process opened unexpected emotional doors, forcing her to revisit chapters of her life defined by mistreatment and hurt.
She describes the creation of the track as a definitive moment of release, helping her finally unburden herself of emotional weight she didn’t realize she was still carrying.
With its soaring melodies, heartfelt lyricism, and stripped-back emotional core, the single stands as a powerful testament to Keely’s ability to transform personal pain into a universally relatable experience.
Her hope is that the music meets listeners wherever they are in their own personal journeys, offering comfort and a shared space for expression.
More info abouyt Keely Crocker
Originally from Durban and now based in Cape Town, Keely Crocker has been drawn to songwriting for as long as she can remember. After studying musical theatre at LAMTA for four years, she went on to star in the prestigious South African premiere of the musical Dear Evan Hansen.
However, her deep passion for personal storytelling eventually led her to step away from the theatrical stage to pursue her path as a solo artist.
Whether performing in intimate acoustic spaces or commanding larger stages, Keely brings a rare authenticity to her music that is rooted in lived experience.
With “Things could be different”, she not only showcases her vocal and songwriting prowess but also solidifies her place as one of South Africa’s most compelling emerging voices in pop.

At its core, Keely Crocker’s musical mission remains simple: to share her stories with the world and create music that finds a permanent home in the lives of others, echoing the way her own favorite songs once shaped her. By blending pop sensibilities with emotional transparency, she continues to carve out a unique niche in the local music landscape.
“Things could be different” is available now on all major digital streaming platforms nationwide. As she steps into this new chapter, Keely Crocker proves that standing on the edge of vulnerability can lead to an artist’s most powerful work.
