Samus Aran returns in Metroid Prime 4: Beyond – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, launching today (the 4th of December 2025) on Nintendo Switch 2, with a standard Nintendo Switch version releasing the same day.
An unexpected clash with the enigmatic Sylux transports her to the mysterious planet Viewros, forcing her to explore its dangerous terrain, uncover its secrets, and fight for survival.
Metroid Prime 4 features a New Planet and New Psychic Powers
Shortly after arriving on Viewros, Samus receives powerful psychic abilities from the Lamorn, an ancient species that once lived on the planet. These abilities allow her to manipulate mechanisms, redirect charged shots, and access previously unreachable areas, fundamentally reshaping how she navigates and battles across this alien world.
As her mission unfolds, Samus gains access to Vi-O-La, an advanced vehicle equipped with specialised weaponry. It gives her new ways to traverse Viewros and defend herself against increasingly hostile enemies. Several Galactic Federation Troopers have also been mysteriously transported to the planet, offering support as they search for a way home together.
Enhanced Performance on Nintendo Switch 2
The Nintendo Switch 2 Edition brings upgraded features including mouse-style aiming with Joy-Con 2 controllers, enhanced visuals, faster performance, and HDR support. Players can choose Quality Mode for up to 4K resolution in TV mode or switch to Performance Mode, which targets frame rates up to 120 fps for ultra-smooth gameplay.
New Amiibo for Collectors
A new line of amiibo launches alongside the game, including Samus, Samus & Vi-O-La, and the Sylux figure arriving on December 4th.
