One of Iceland’s most internationally acclaimed rock exports, KALEO, is set to make their highly anticipated South African debut. Presented by BreakOut Events, the Grammy-nominated band will bring their celebrated Way Down We Go Tour to audiences in Cape Town and Johannesburg in February 2027.
Fronted by the unmistakable voice of Jökull Júlíusson (JJ), alongside drummer David Antonsson, bassist Daniel Kristjansson, and guitarist Rubin Pollock, KALEO formed in a suburb of Reykjavik in 2012.

Their musical catalogue sits comfortably between blues-rock muscle, folk introspection, and arena-sized hooks. What began as a local Icelandic phenomenon quickly became a worldwide sensation with the release of their 2016 breakthrough album, A/B. The record delivered enduring hit singles like “Way Down We Go”, “All The Pretty Girls”, and “No Good”.
The numbers speak for themselves. The band has since amassed over six billion global streams and more than 70 international Gold, Platinum, and Diamond certifications.
No strangers to the world’s biggest stages, their impressive live résumé includes appearances at iconic festivals such as Coachella, Lollapalooza, and Bonnaroo, along with sold-out headline tours across North America and Europe.
With four studio albums to their name, including 2025’s Mixed Emotions, KALEO is also one of the most synced bands of all time. Few songs have left a cultural mark quite like “Way Down We Go”. The track has racked up nearly four billion streams worldwide, appearing in millions of TikTok videos and countless advertising campaigns.
It has also featured prominently in major television series including Yellowstone, The Morning Show, Grey’s Anatomy, Law & Order, and Suits, alongside EA Sports video game franchises such as FIFA, Madden NFL, and NHL.

It’s A Milestone Tour for KALEO
The band’s latest chapter arrives in the wake of the A/B 10th Anniversary Deluxe Edition, which was released in June 2026.
Expanding on the record that launched them onto the world stage, the Way Down We Go Tour serves as both a celebration of that legacy and a reminder of their enduring momentum.
Renowned for a sound that is both timeless and contemporary, their live shows are driven by raw energy and emotional intensity.
The band shared their excitement regarding the upcoming milestone, stating that they have wanted to visit South Africa for a long time. They added that playing in Cape Town and Johannesburg will be incredibly special and they cannot wait to finally bring their live show to local fans.
