In case you forgot, Oppikoppi 2018 Nomakanjani is happening from the 9th to the 11th of August this year and it’s already looking like this festival is going to be one for the books.
Over the last few weeks Matchbox Live (the organizers) have announced more acts that will be playing at the festival. 20 acts were already announced by early April 2018 – if you missed their announcement, click here to see who it was.
Goodluck, Akkedis, Silvablack & The Midnight, Cape Town Ska maestros Grassy Spark, Surf rockers The Moths, The Barbosa Experience (who will be playing at their first Oppikoppi), No Comply, House of Kuumba, Werner Bekker, Wolfgang Marrow, Sibusile Xaba, Them Dirty Shrikes, SA Blues Rock Legends The Black Cat Bones, Die See, Last Chance Seattle, Ohgod, Sea of Green, Strait-Jackal, The George and SA Rock Legends Wonderboom.
I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again: It looks like Oppikoppi 2018 Nomakanjani is going to be one of the books. I’m already polisihing my party shoes and giving my liver a pep talk. I’m really looking forward to making my way to the dusty farm (which is located 12 km from Northam in the Limpopo province) for my 20th Oppikoppi festival in August.
No international acts have been announced yet, but I’m not really worried about that. The local line-up is already looking amazing and that’s reason enough for me to undertake my annual pilgrimage into the dust.
