Great news! Your favourite Afrikaanse Rapper Jack Parow is going to be at Oppikoppi 2016 and something tells me that this is one set you should not miss when you’re at the festival. I’ve been following his career ever since he dropped the “Cooler As Ekke” single in 2009 and I have to admit that his live shows have improved A LOT since the early days – him and his band put on one hell of a show.
I recently had a chat with Jack Parow about Oppikoppi and a few other things. This is what he had to say:
When you think of Oppikoppi, what comes to mind?
Dust, darkness & a fuckload of drinking…also some music.
What is the funniest thing you’ve experienced at Oppikoppi?
I once saw a guy tackle a warthog. Then later the night I walked past and he was braaing it. True story. Fuck Iron Man, that’s fucking IRON man.
What are you currently working on?
Visuals for Oppikoppi, but in the greater scheme of things I’m starting to work on the new album and also just finished shooting my TV show, “Dis Hoe Ons Rol”, that’s on kykNET every Friday night at 9 PM.
What do you think of the current state of SA Music?
P**s cool my bru, p**s cool.
What can music festival goers expect from your set at Oppikoppi this year?
Booze, energy…and hopefully visuals.
I’d like to thank Jack Parow for this interview and wish him all of the best with his set at Oppikoppi (which I’m definitely NOT missing this year).
As he mentioned in the interview, Jack Parow’s travel reality TV series “Dis Hoe Ons Rol” (That’s How We Roll) kicked off on kykNET recently. Great news is that today, with Episode 4 of the 10 part series under the belt, Jack Parow dropped the “Dis Hoe Ons Rol” single and compilation album on iTunes as well as the music video for the show’s theme song. In the “Dis Hoe Ons Rol” music video Jack Parow and his buddy, Hardus van Deventer take the viewer on the road with them on an action packed adventure. Check it out below:
This compilation album is a Jack Parow one stop hit shop for old and new fans alike. The track list is a mix of his most popular songs, songs that feature in the series and, of course, the TV show’s title track.
It is a great introduction of Parow’s music to new fans and serves as a hot compilation for fans who’ve come a long way with him. Now some folks like their drinks with a kick in it and some folks don’t. With this in mind Jack Parow will release both censored and uncensored versions of the Dis Hoe Ons Rol compilation album.
This worked like a bomb when, due to popular demand, Parow released the SuperSeepSkoon series censored versions of his debut and sophomore albums in 2013. Purchase / stream the Dis Hoe Ons Rol single or the UNCENSORED album on iTunes at http://smarturl.it/dhor or purchase / stream the Dis Hoe Ons Rol single or the CENSORED album on iTunes at http://smarturl.it/dhorvloekvry.
