In an era where artificial intelligence is rapidly reshaping how we create and connect, South African artist Stephen Gawking is posing a fundamental question: what truly makes creativity human?
The answer arrived with his new single, “Manna,” featuring the acclaimed vocalist Eva Morgan and celebrated rock performer Mark Haze.

The Heart of Stephen Gawking’s New Song
Known as The Nuclear Lyricist, Stephen Gawking has built a reputation for blending meaningful storytelling with powerful messages of resilience.
Living with Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 2, he has long used music to encourage those facing their own challenges, proving that limitations do not define potential.
With “Manna,” he delivers one of his most thought-provoking tracks yet. Wrapped in cinematic pop production, the song explores authenticity and the search for meaning in a world dominated by technology.
“Manna is a reflective pop song about searching for light in uncertain times,” Stephen explains. “While acknowledging the rise of AI and its influence on art, the song affirms that technology can be embraced without replacing what makes creativity truly powerful: the human soul behind it.”
The title references the biblical concept of manna, a source of nourishment provided when needed most, which, in the song, symbolizes the inspiration and clarity that sustain us through life’s uncertainties.
A Powerful Collaboration
To bring this vision to life, Stephen partnered with two artists renowned for their emotional depth:
Mark Haze: Widely respected for his blend of rock, soul, and blues, Mark connected deeply with the song’s message. “The song speaks about searching and finding one’s way back to centre to fill a void,” he notes. “In a world where everyone is constantly searching for the next thing, we often forget to appreciate the blessings already in front of us.”
Eva Morgan: Following their previous collaboration on “Bubblegum Milkshake,” Eva returns to lend her warmth and elegance to the track. “I loved working on this song,” she says. “I had space to showcase my true vocal passion with an incredible melody and beautiful lyrics.”
Produced by Bobby Johnson and co-produced by Stephen Gawking, “Manna” balances polished modern production with genuine storytelling. It serves as a reminder that, regardless of technological advancement, the human spirit, marked by our capacity for love, loss, faith, and triumph, remains the ultimate source of art.
