Tidal Waves are one of the acts who will be performing at Park Acoustics this coming Saturday in Pretoria. They are one of the most fun acts to watch live and if you haven’t seen them live yet, you should.
I recently had a chat to Zakes from Tidal Waves about a few things. This is what he had to say:
So, you guys are playing at the last Park Acoustics for 2018. Are you excited and what can fans expect of you on the day?
We are very excited to do Park Acoustics and original people will be given some serious therapy.
Tidal Waves have played a few shows in New Zealand & the USA, etc. How did the people react to your music and what was your experience of it?
We were well received and admired. We want to go back if we can.
What would you say are your musical influences? Why did you get into the music scene?
My influence came from Harari. He played Afro Rock music and I felt in love with the sound.
Tidal Waves had a crowdfunding campaign. How did it work out for you guys? Can people still contribute? When & where can fans get your new album?
It’s going very slow. We are urging our people to contribute so that we can be done.
What can fans expect from the new Tidal Waves album?
Tidal Waves are creative and crazy sometimes. You can expect new sound and more collaborations with friends.
What would you like to change in the SA music scene?
I would start with the bad contracts that SA musicians are still signing presently. Then I’d create more places for artist to display their creativity.
What are some of your favourite venues to play and where is your biggest fan base?
We like performing around Pretoria where a lot of people supports us.
Anything you guys would like to say to any new fans or people who have never seen you live?
Lend us your ears.
What is in the pipeline in the near future for you guys?
We will soon be doing some reggae nights around Pretoria. Follow us on social media for more info about this.
I’d like to thank Zakes and Tidal Waves for this interview and I wish them all of the best with their set at Park Acoustics on Saturday and their future musical journey.
