DStv is heating things up this July with a bold mix of fresh dramas, award-worthy thrillers, hilarious comedies, and jaw-dropping reality TV.
So, what’s on DStv in July 2025?
Kicking things off is Death Valley, a quirky new crime series starring BAFTA-winner Timothy Spall as a retired actor turned amateur sleuth, with The Guardian calling it “Midsomer Murders – with jokes.”
Meanwhile, thriller fans can brace themselves for Trap, M. Night Shyamalan’s latest cinematic mind-bender, with Josh Hartnett delivering one of his most acclaimed performances to date.
On the animated front, Kiff: Lore of the Ring Light brings a fun, family-friendly spoof of Tolkien’s fantasy world with a social media twist—courtesy of South African creators Lucy Heavens and Nic Smal.
If reality TV is more your flavour, Mzansi Magic’s Lose It or Lose Me takes a raw and emotional look at the intersection of health and relationships, while Moja Love returns with viewer favourites like Teenage Pregnancy and Izinkomo Zamalobolo. Eyamadoda, a powerful new Mzansi Wethu docu-reality series, unpacks the complicated dynamic between stepfathers and absent dads – hosted by SAFTA-winner Manaka Ranaka.
In the world of high-stakes drama, MobLand brings all-out gangster warfare to your screens, with Tom Hardy, Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, and Paddy Considine in a Guy Ritchie-produced saga that’s already shattered global streaming records.
Elsewhere, Wicked finally soars onto M-Net. The long-awaited big-screen adaptation of the beloved musical is not only 2024’s highest-grossing musical movie but also an Oscar winner. For something educational and nostalgic, Jaws @ 50: The Definitive Inside Story dives deep into the shark flick that defined a genre and launched Steven Spielberg’s career.
Fans of iconic franchises aren’t left out. NCIS: Sydney returns for Season 2, South Park is back with its 27th season, and Kitchen Nightmares sees Gordon Ramsay raising hell in struggling restaurants across America once more.
If you’re craving something refreshing, Thirst With Shay Mitchell on Food Network explores global cultures through the lens of their most iconic drinks. Or, catch Emmy-winner Bertie Gregory as he dives into shark-infested waters – no cage required – in Sharks Up Close on National Geographic Wild.
And for lovers of local comedy, Magda Louw returns with Season 3, blending mockumentary charm with reality-show satire as one Afrikaans couple navigates being filmed 24/7.
With new shows, specials, documentaries, and returning fan favourites spanning over a dozen channels, DStv’s July line-up truly has something for everyone—from popcorn blockbusters to hard-hitting reality, laugh-out-loud comedy to edge-of-your-seat crime.
