Blue Vow Releases New Single: “The Weather Had Its Way”

‘The Weather Has Its Way’ marks the return of Blue Vow. “The Weather Has Its Way” delves into the profound impact of patriarchal norms on individual identity, confronting the oppressive forces that shape one’s live from birth.

Encapsulated within the cocoon’s embrace, the caterpillar surrenders to a journey of self-deconstruction, dissolving its essence in a poignant metaphor for human renewal. Amidst this dissolution, traces of resilience linger, weaving through the fabric of existence like threads of Gnosis, preserving memories and guiding intuition.

Blue Vow

Death of a Big Black Dog (Blue Vow’s upcoming album) stands as a testament to metamorphosis—a liminal journey bridging realms of shadow and light, where the old self breathes its final elegy before the emergence of a new voice.

It exists in a plane between freedom and fear, navigating self-awareness and reflection. Through the prism of magic realism, it is a chapter of profound introspection and processing through musicality, a turning of the Wheel.

Chelsea Ann Peter (Blue Vow) comments of the song’s creation

“Returning home from therapy, still feeling the awareness of residual energy. In the midst of this internal turmoil the artist found solace in the act of creation, channelling my feelings into a song.”

Like the unpredictable forces of nature, these external influences can leave one feeling powerless, until we realise the strength in choosing our own path.

The song defiantly rejects outdated systems, advocating for dismantling and rebuilding, reclaiming autonomy, and stepping into our inherent power. It is a journey of inner revolution, akin to breathing life back into a lifeless body with each defiant breath.

More info about Blue Vow

Drawing influence that spans from slow-burning ambience to more violent, noise-driven entities, under the guise of Blue Vow, Cape Town-based artist Chelsea Ann Peter plays with sound to exorcise her dissection of and attempt to comprehend inner and outer worlds.

While moving through self-reflexive, existential doors, her debut album, Sunfall (2022), and her forthcoming album Death of a Big Black Dog, set to release in 2024, sink fully into the dark and the light, finding their pulse on the edge where the two forces meet. Dipping in and out of dream landscapes, storytelling, and memory, both bodies of work simultaneously destroy and breathe anew.

Presently morphing into a full band comprising Joy Markus, Damon Miles, Cam Lofstrand, and Stephan Erasmus, Blue Vow is re-imagining itself, slowly shedding skins and transitioning into something new.

Her sound explores and exorcises her internal and mirrored external worlds, driven by the merging of conscious and subconscious realities. It is an attempt to perceive while being realised as a conduit.
