Grammy Award-winning R&B superstar Leon Bridges is bringing his unmistakable sound to South Africa for two highly anticipated, exclusive performances in Johannesburg and Cape Town this November.
The upcoming South African shows coincide with the release of his fifth studio album, Happiness Anytime, dropping on 25 September 2026. The 12-track project is currently rolling out in three four-song EPs, with the first batch of singles – “Light The Way”, “Tears of Joy”, “Illusion”, and “Your Love Is Electric” – already out.

The new record finds Leon Bridges returning to the warmth of his debut while embracing the adventurous spirit of his celebrated collaborations with Khruangbin. Blending his sound with the signature sensibilities of the electronic soul band Jungle, the album pushes into thrilling new territory with echoes of Fela Kuti, Jorge Ben, and Paul Simon.
Ultimately, it is an album built for movement, joy, and long summer nights. “For me, happiness is not a feeling that you chase,” he explains. “I want this album to be something that lingers with people and lingers in people’s bones.”
The Evolution of a Modern R&B Icon
Since emerging onto the international music scene, Leon Bridges has built a career on timeless songwriting and effortless vocals.
His Grammy-winning debut album, Coming Home, introduced audiences to his understated style and yielded massive signature tracks like “River”, “Coming Home”, “Smooth Sailin'”, and “Better Man”.
Rather than resting on his laurels, he continually expanded his musical palette. Projects like Good Thing and the atmospheric Gold-Diggers Sound incorporated funk, jazz, and alternative production, spawning hits like “Motorbike”, “Sweeter”, and “Why Don’t You Touch Me”.
His self-titled 2024 album, Leon, continued to draw on his Texas roots, proving him to be an artist unwilling to simply recreate the past.
Fans Can Expect An Intimate Live Experience
The appeal of Leon Bridges lies not only in his studio recordings but in the pure musicianship of his live performances.
Whether he is performing stripped-back acoustic ballads or groove-driven R&B numbers, he has developed a reputation for making massive concert stages feel deeply personal and intimate.
“I’ve wanted to play South Africa for a long time, and I’m really excited to finally make it there, especially with this album, for these two special shows,” he says. “I can’t wait to share the music with everyone.”
