South African newcomer Blush steps into the spotlight with her debut single, “A Little Less.” It’s a confident first release that introduces a fresh and emotionally rich voice in the alternative pop space.
Currently splitting her time between South Africa and the UK, Blush arrives with a strong foundation, having honed her craft behind the scenes before stepping forward as a solo artist.
From Behind the Scenes to Centre Stage
Before this debut, Blush built her experience as a producer, composer and sound designer. She is also a graduate of the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, the renowned institution co-founded by Paul McCartney.
That background is evident in the level of detail and intention behind her sound, even at this early stage of her solo career.
A Song About Distance and Letting Go
“A Little Less” explores the quiet tension of a relationship beginning to unravel. Instead of dramatic fallout, the track focuses on the subtle moments when something starts slipping away and neither person is quite ready to face it.
It captures that uneasy space between holding on and letting go, where emotional distance creeps in before anything is said out loud.
Built from Instinct
The single also marks the beginning of a key creative partnership with producer Jono Greyling. The two made a bold call early on, scrapping previous versions of the track and starting from scratch.
That decision paid off. The final version feels raw, intimate and deliberate, with Blush shaping the song’s lyrical and melodic direction while Greyling crafted its sonic identity.
Her approach to songwriting is rooted in instinct rather than overthinking. She allows meaning to reveal itself after the process is complete, which gives her music a natural, unforced quality.
A Glimpse of What’s Coming
“A Little Less” serves as the first taste of her upcoming EP Hurt Right, a project that explores emotional intensity and the way people are often drawn to the very things that hurt them.
Positioned between alternative rock, shoegaze and experimental pop, Blush is building a sound that feels atmospheric yet deeply personal.
