Multi-award-winning South African singer-songwriter Bongeziwe Mabandla is back this month with his infectious new single, “Walila”. Known for his ability to blend traditional sounds with modern innovation, Mabandla delivers a track built around theatrical storytelling and a touch of humor.
The single serves as a precursor to his highly anticipated upcoming album, Ndingubani, which is set for release on 11 June 2026.

“Walila” explores the concept of karma and the inevitable return of one’s actions. Mabandla describes the inspiration as coming from a comical place while experimenting with his guitar, imagining someone crying “tiny tears” as justice finally catches up with them.
It is a song that acknowledges the universal experience of facing injustice and the quiet satisfaction of seeing the scales balance.
