Stellenbosch-based singer-songwriter EFACT, known for his evolving sound and deeply personal lyrics, has just dropped his latest single, ‘Cigarettes.’ This release signals a new direction in EFACT’s musical journey as he dives into pure pop, blending introspective themes with a catchy, irresistible melody.
“I’ve always wanted to create a full-on pop song,” EFACT explains. “The track explores the tension between personal habits and the impact of a meaningful relationship, reflecting on the balance between staying true to yourself while being shaped by a partner’s care.”
The song presents a mature perspective on adult relationships, fusing defiance with vulnerability, and ultimately showing how love can foster personal growth.
The production of ‘Cigarettes’ saw EFACT teaming up with Gernot, owner of Nautilus Studios, who took charge of the track’s mixing and mastering. EFACT’s dedication to his craft extends beyond just his music—he is deeply involved in every aspect of his work, from writing his own lyrics to playing an active role in producing his music videos.

Over the past five years, EFACT has steadily built his presence in the music scene, releasing over 35 songs and 14 music videos.
His previous single, ‘Past Days,’ was a heartfelt ode to his December holidays spent in Namibia with loved ones. The song struck a chord with listeners, racking up over 80,000 views on YouTube and even earning him a live performance on Namibia’s national television.
Born and raised in Namibia, EFACT, whose real name is Emil Fürniss, comes from a multicultural family—his mother is South African, and his father is German.
This diverse heritage, along with his upbringing in a musically-inclined household, has greatly influenced his approach to music.
Two years ago, he moved to South Africa to pursue a Business degree and advance his music career. Since then, he has continued to refine his distinctive sound, blending pop, acoustic, and rap elements.
Looking forward, EFACT is excited about the future. With four new songs ready for release, he is eager to keep pushing creative boundaries.
