Portland-based producer FENRA has released his striking new single, “Emeralds”. This highly anticipated track follows the immense success of his 2025 project, Delusional EP.
The EP garnered widespread support from global electronic music tastemakers including Magnetic Magazine, CLASH Magazine, Electronic Groove, and When We Dip.
FENRA is the electronic moniker of producer B Laws, who grew up surrounded by art and first fell in love with harmony while listening to hymns in church with his grandmother.

After teaching himself guitar at 14 and later touring the US, Europe, and Asia as a multi-instrumentalist in various bands, he is now channeling his vast musical experience into a sophisticated new artistic chapter.
Bridging Cinematic Textures with Restless Rhythms
On “Emeralds”, fractured percussion and rich granular textures interlock to form the track’s restless, hypnotic backbone.
Intricately arranged, the song blooms and evolves beautifully throughout its two-and-a-half-minute runtime. Aligning with the ethereal realms of left-field and atmospheric electronica, the production occupies a cinematic space shared by the likes of Burial, Jon Hopkins, and Bicep.

As an introspective contemplation, the single deliberately avoids the clichéd tropes of commercial dance music and mainstream EDM.
Instead, it favors a spacious, mood-driven environment that transcends typical lo-fi or pop-crossover territory. The arrangement builds to a powerful close, where swirling synth textures and UK garage-inspired percussion converge into a highly charged finale.

Crafting an Atmospheric World Outside the Club
The unique sonic landscape of the track stems from a deeply experimental production process. The producer shares that the foundation of the song relies on chords and vocal fragments that were continuously sampled, resampled, and reshaped until they transformed into a living texture beneath the arrangement.
He notes that the drums were intentionally kept soft and distant to ensure the song felt less like a traditional club record and more like an immersive, atmospheric world that listeners could completely disappear into.
Drawing inspiration from electronic pioneers like Caribou, Four Tet, Floating Points, Bonobo, and DJ Koze, FENRA continues to craft music that functions as both a cinematic journey and a deeply personal statement.
