Canada is known to be a host to many cultures. With the support of their government, this country is thriving at coexisting with different cultural backgrounds, known for living in peace and harmony, despite being a country of cultural rainbow.

Many musicians and other people of art dream about immigration to Canada as this country can provide a truly free and comfortable life. Luckily, the Canadian government offers lots of immigration programs to choose from.

Why is Canada Perfect for Musicians?

With the nature of welcoming residents from different cultures and ethnicities, Canada has become a hub of opportunities for migrants across the globe. Developed magnificently with a booming economy, Canada creates a solid stand for work opportunities, studies, or even to start a family.

The North American country accounts for a major chunk of their European expats coming from Africa looking for opportunities and growth. In the umbrella term that is cultural activities, the Canadian National Occupational Classifications (NOC) codes have chalked out the numerical codes to classify different activities.

Express entry is actually a method used by the Canadian immigration to choose the proper candidates eligible for a permanent residency visa. In such a case, if one is looking to migrate to this country as a musician, they’ll be searching for Provincial Nominee Program and Federal Skilled Worker Visa.

Such is the immigration system of Canada that it allows Musicians from around the globe eligible for a Canada Residency under Express Entry, given they have the proper qualifications and skills.

Can you immigrate without a Job Offer

Probably the most asked question that an aspiring immigrant asks is if they can immigrate to Canada without a job offer in hand. The answer is a big yes, as long as you have enough CRS on your Express Entry application and the required immigration points to get your Canada Federal Skilled Worker Visa.

It is almost important to note that even though it’s not mandatory, having a secured job offer does contribute heavily to your CRS with 200 points, making it a more practical option.

Program Qualifications for NOC

First priority in order to migrate to Canada as a musician is to calculate your Canada immigration points using CRS based on age, qualification, English & French speaking ability etc.   in order to get Express entry. There are very standard list of qualification required to immigrate to Canada as a musician-

  • Proper training in music from a recognised university or college.
  • Degree in music is also necessary for immigration.
  • Demonstrated ability in music during an audition.

From a long list of codes for various activities including, writers, actors, painters, dancers, photographers, etc. musicians and singers have their NOC – 5133. The list may be wide but may or may not be inclusive or exclusive.

Similarly, even with your activity on the list, it might be a possibility that your qualifications may not be enough depending on the service area you are targeting. It is always important to consult a professional, especially when it comes to immigration as the guidelines might be confusing to many.
