After the widespread success of her breakout hit “Chokeslam,” Lekompo pioneer Kharishma makes a powerful return with her latest single, “Dumelang,” featuring the soulful voice of Sannere.

Produced by the underappreciated Buddysax and fast-rising DJ Angelo, the track creates a sonic bridge across South Africa, Botswana, and Lesotho—capturing the shared heartbeat of Southern Africa through music and storytelling.

“Dumelang” unfolds as a heartfelt dialogue between two characters: a South African woman, voiced by Kharishma, and a man from Lesotho, portrayed by Sannere.

The song reflects on themes of separation, hope, and the search for belonging across national borders. With vivid lyrics and a stirring performance, Kharishma gives voice to the emotional toll of hunger, drought, and economic hardship, expressing a deep yearning for change and connection.

The production blends traditional textures with a modern edge, creating a rhythmically rich, genre-blending soundscape that enhances the song’s message.

Once again, Kharishma proves her gift for transforming personal stories into universal anthems. As one of the defining voices in the Lekompo movement, she continues to push the genre into new territory—both musically and culturally.

“Dumelang” is more than just a greeting; it’s an invitation to move, to connect, and to feel. The track stands as a testament to Kharishma’s vision of music as a unifying force—one that transcends geography and speaks to shared human experiences.

More info about Kharishma

Kharishma (born Melita Ribane) is a rising star from Limpopo, South Africa, known for her genre-defining contributions to Lekompo—a vibrant musical blend of Limpopo traditional rhythms, Afrobeat, and contemporary house.

With her captivating voice, sharp songwriting, and undeniable stage presence, she has quickly established herself as one of the most influential young voices in the South African music scene.

At just 20 years old, she made a major impact when “Chokeslam,” her collaboration with producer Ba Bethe Gashoazen, was crowned Song of the Year on both Thobela FM and Capricorn FM.

The single’s viral rise on platforms like TikTok and YouTube brought national attention to Lekompo, positioning Kharishma as a genre ambassador.

Her growing catalogue includes tracks like “Matome,” “Sekoloto,” and “Lesibana”—each combining cultural authenticity with contemporary production. Kharishma’s music speaks to a wide audience, connecting generations through emotionally resonant lyrics and irresistible rhythms.

Driven by a mission to take Lekompo to the global stage, she continues to amplify the voices and stories of Limpopo through her ever-evolving sound.
