Bongani Zulu is part of an amazing line-up of artists who are performing / DJ-ing at the Arcade Empire / Griet Haloween party (which is happening this coming weekend at the Voortrekker Monument in Pretoria).
Bongani is a 20 year old DJ from Pretoria, trying to make his way up the house scene. He started about six years ago, using a laptop and mixing on Virtual DJ and progressed
I recently had a chat to Bongani Zulu about his set at the Halloween party and a few other things, this is what he had to say:
What are your thoughts about the current state of the Pretoria live music scene?
Honestly, it’s becoming such an exciting melting pot of different sounds and music so I’m impressed by what we’re doing as a city in terms of music.
What are you currently working on?
Right now, I’m working on finishing an EP with a few tracks I’ve been working on for a while. Hopefully, I can get it done before Halloween.
What is the funniest thing that’s happened during one of your sets?
A lot of funny stuff has happened during my sets, because I have absolute nutters for friends haha. But, if I had to choose, it would be when a girl flashed her boobs at me. I was honestly so shocked because I’m a shy person so I would’ve never imagined that happening to me!
What can music fans expect from your set at the Arcade Empire Halloween party this year?
If time allows, a few of my own produced tracks haha. They can expect melodic sounds but sticking with my techno and deep tech side, complimenting the Halloween vibe.
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Bongani for this interview and I wish him all of the best with his future musical endeavors.
