Brooklyn-based alt-pop singer-songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Sabrina Song has shared her latest EP, Big Trick. On this project, Song documents the peaks and valleys of young adulthood, finding compassion, hope, and love amidst disillusionment and shifting goalposts.
The EP came together organically in the aftermath of her stirring 2024 debut record, You Could Stay In One Spot and I’d Love You The Same. Through her signature delicate vocals and poignant lyricism, the musician dives headfirst into themes of self-compassion, the constant pressures of output, and the vulnerability of falling in love.

The “Big Trick” of Vulnerability
The title track serves as the thesis for the entire project. Produced by Lucas Wurman and Tom Brecker, the song uses gentle guitar strums to set a scene of “easy love” and the accompanying feelings of foolishness and fear that come with surrendering to it.
Sabrina Song describes the title as a reference to the “big trick” of disillusionment and the challenge of saying the quiet parts of our insecurities out loud.
According to the artist, working on this specific track was the tipping point for the collection. It allowed her to explore the “ugly feelings” and the freedom of letting oneself change their mind while navigating the full spectrum of human emotion.
The EP features standout tracks like “Play It Cool”, a shimmering recent single that puts Song’s heart on full display, and “Moving Target”, which found its way onto Pitchfork’s coveted Selects playlist. Other tracks like “LOCK” have been featured on major Spotify playlists, including Created by Women and Next Gen Songwriters, further cementing her influence in the indie scene.
Critics have drawn comparisons to artists like Blondshell and Olivia Rodrigo, with i-D Magazine noting that her songwriting signals the arrival of a “new great American artist.”
With over 4 million streams on her fan-favorite tune “Strawberry”, Song continues to grow a global audience attracted to her absorbing tone and earnest storytelling.
