South African afropop sensation Sbahle makes a powerful return with her latest single “Ngiyabheja Ngawe”, a soulful collaboration with award-winning artist Mawelele, best known for his platinum-selling hit “All My Life” featuring Kwesta.

The track celebrates love, commitment, and the beauty of mutual devotion, brought to life through vibrant rhythms, heartfelt lyrics, and rich African melodies that fans have come to love from both artists.

Sbahle & Mawelele

“Ngiyabheja Ngawe” opens with Sbahle’s emotionally charged chorus: “Angifuni lutho ngento yam, angifuni lutho ezophazamisa uthando lwethu – Ngyabheja Ngawe”, which translates to “I don’t want anything or anyone to interfere with my lover or the love we have for one another. I can bet on you and our love for each other.” Her performance radiates tenderness and conviction, immediately pulling listeners into a space of deep emotional connection.

Mawelele’s verse adds another dimension to the song with touching vulnerability: “Baby God knows you’re my one and only, akhala wena dali esifubeni sami,” meaning “Baby, God knows you’re my one and only. It’s you who pulls my heart’s strings.” His warm, soulful tone perfectly complements Sbahle’s delivery, creating a dynamic exchange between two voices deeply in tune with love’s emotional pulse.

Later, Mawelele reflects on moments of longing and regret: “And sometimes I’ve been feeling lonely, Ngaphandle kwakho dali, Kuyabanda. Ngike ngahamba dali. Ngase ngabona abanye Ngakhohlwa ngawe dali,” translating to “Sometimes I feel lonely without you and it’s cold out there. I explored and saw other people and forgot about our love.” This raw honesty grounds the song in real human experience, making it as relatable as it is beautiful.

Sbahle is a Trailblazing Voice in South African Afropop

Since her breakout single “Emlanjeni” – which has amassed over 17 million YouTube views – Sbahle has continued to build her reputation as one of South Africa’s most emotive and powerful voices. Her follow-up hits “Ngiyazifela” and “Ubani Obayazi” featuring Blaq Diamond showcased her versatility, while her independent release “Uthe Uyangithanda” featuring Pretty Masompisi & Mjolisi via Africori became her highest-grossing single to date.

Inspired by her grandfather and legendary South African icons including Kelly Khumalo, Nhlanhla Nciza, Zonke, Lebo Mathosa, and Brenda Fassie, Sbahle brings authenticity and heart to everything she creates. Her collaboration with Mawelele marks an important milestone – two distinct afropop forces combining to craft a song filled with emotion, depth, and connection.

Looking Ahead

Sbahle is set to release her debut album early next year, promising more heartfelt music that celebrates love, self-discovery, and resilience. Reflecting on the collaboration, she shares, “Music has always been a part of my life – it’s how I express myself and connect with people. Working with Mawelele felt like bringing two hearts together through song, and I can’t wait for everyone to feel the love we put into this track.”

“Ngiyabheja Ngawe” is available now on all major streaming platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and Deezer.
