The Disciple: 10 Interesting Facts You Might Not Know

Oliver Pulfer AKA The Disciple has been working on a body of work over the last few years in Switzerland. The lead single to be released is  the hard hitting and culturally political single: “Metaphysical Disorder”.

The track is a commentary on the genocide of many African cultures due to an overbearing focus on Western Civilization. The rapping is complimented by Pindaimuhushe Bosha – KVA’s sweet reggae vocal and melodies infused with traditional African beats.

It’s not about economic exploitation or politics but its more about Culture and Psychology, that’s why it’s called “Metaphysical”. Oliver embraces a more Afrocentric world view and is deeply moved about the disappearance of certain cultures. As The Disciple notes – “The lyrical content is pretty deep”.

4. He already recorded an album “I Am Revolution” in Cuba in 2014 for which he used Cuban music samples. The album was never released though.

The Disciple Big

5. Being a live emcee that really knows how to move the crowd and being in direct contact with the people is much more essential to him than recording music in a studio.

6. His name “The Disciple” is an allegory to someone who spreads the messages and teachings of the books he’s been reading, The Disciple was particularly influenced by left intellectuals, e.g. Jean Ziegler, Noam Chomsky so far as well as pan-African leaders.

7. His music is inseparable from his political activism since he wants to sensitize people and teach them about historical facts.

8. His current single “Metaphysical Disorder” was inspired by the album “Distant Relatives” by Nas and Damian Marley.

9. He met much more enthusiasm and interest in Cape Town, South Africa during a 2 weeks’ vacation in 2012 then he has ever received in Switzerland. It seems like people are way more open-minded and interested in new artists.

10. He went back to Cape Town to promote his music in March 2020 and everything went well. He had a radio interview as well as a little performance at the library of Cape Town. Due to COVID-19 he had to go back only after 3 weeks. Ever since them he’s working on his album for which he’s planning to have concerts in South Africa.
