Soweto-based Amapiano and Afro House duo Ama Top Dawgz have officially released their uplifting new single and music video, “Khuthaza Abafwethu”.
The release serves as an empowering preview of their highly anticipated six-track EP, “2BDI1R (2 Big Dogs In 1 Room)”, which drops on 11 September.

“Khuthaza Abafwethu” is an Anthem for the Hustle
Translating to “Encourage Our Brothers,” “Khuthaza Abafwethu” is an anthem inspired by the everyday struggles, resilience, and ambition of people in the ekasi.
Rooted deeply in their experiences in Soweto and Protea Glen, the single speaks directly to anyone navigating difficult circumstances while continuing to chase their dreams.
The duo explains that the track was born from watching their friends and community go through hard times. Blending vibrant Amapiano and Afro House with the unmistakable energy of Soweto street culture, they set out to create a soundtrack that motivates people to keep pushing and never give up.
Ama Top Dawgz: has Deep Roots in Soweto
The message of resilience and hustle is deeply personal for both members of Ama Top Dawgz:
Ndibzar: Raised in Protea Glen by a single mother and his grandparents, he discovered his musical talent as a child in 2012. He vividly remembers making songs in his grandfather’s two-room house, using a bucket for drums and his grandmother’s phone to record his earliest tracks.
Lendas: Growing up in Diepkloof before moving to Protea Glen at age 13, he initially dreamed of a career in football. However, music found him during school lunch break freestyle sessions, ultimately shaping his desire to turn his surroundings into art.
A New Chapter with Thumaka Music
Following the success of their early project “Sesfikile” and the radio-supported single “Phambili”, Ama Top Dawgz are entering a brand-new era alongside Thumaka Music.
Their upcoming EP, “2BDI1R (2 Big Dogs In 1 Room)”, features a sole but powerful collaboration with Boontle RSA on the track “Icilongo”. Looking ahead, the duo’s ambitions extend far beyond music into film and other creative avenues, driven by a simple yet bold philosophy: to create art that lasts forever, make more movies, and have more fun.
