Bittereinder is a Pretoria based act. According to their Facebook page their music could be described as something that sounds like rap but feels like Afrikaans.
Peach van Pletzen (of Yesterday’s Pupil & Oorlog Frankenstein fame), Louis Minnaar (the man behind a few music videos for Van Coke Kartel, Die Heuwels Fantasties and Yesterday’s Pupil) and Jaco van der Merwe (who gained fame as Ajax) are the members of Bittereinder.

They recently released their debut album entitled ‘n Ware Verhaal (which translates as “A True Story” in English). Bittereinder was formed early in 2009 when Jaco van der Merwe approached Peach van Pletzen and Louis Minnaar about his desire to start an Afrikaans rap project.
“A Tale of Three Cities” features Afrikaans rapper Jack Parow and Tumi Molekane (lead singer of Tumi & The Volume). The song beams out streetwise references to Pretoria, Johannesburg and Cape Town. There is no doubt in my mind that this song is absolute poetry (and I’m sure residents of the 3 mentioned cities will agree).]
Being a Pretoria resident for the last 14 years I especially love the Pretoria segment of this song. References to Nile Crocodile, Tings ‘n Times, Burnett Street, Tuks FM and other essential Pretoria landmarks and places & things of interest conjures up memories of good times in the past and is also a reminder of how awesome the city I live in is.
“A Tale of Three Cities” is the 2nd single off ‘n Ware Verhaal. This album is definately on my shopping list. The Bittereinder album is available online. The “A Tale of Three Cities” can be downloaded for free there.
