Cantrel Release Brilliant New EP: “Chains”

Cantrel is the alter-ego of KZN based songwriter, pianist, and producer Neil Breytenbach. Known for being the keyboardist of South African rock band Prime Circle, Breytenbach has been releasing songs under this moniker since around 2015.

With a wide variety of influences from pop, rock, hip-hop & folk, Cantrel started off as a passion project for Neil so he could release his solo material. His new EP Chains is a perfect example of Neil’s song-writing dexterity.

Cantrel comments on the new EP

“I’m super excited to be releasing my new Cantrel EP called Chains and I’m busy working on a Music Video for the song Runaway which will be filmed at the legendary ‘Lyric Theatre’ at Gold Reef City. Thanks to Everyone for the Amazing Support on these tracks”.

Chains is available to stream / download on all digital platforms including Spotify, Deezer and Apple Music. There’s only 3 tracks on the EP (“Chains”, “Without Love” and “Runaway”).

I had a quick listen to the EP and I have to say that I’m definitely going to keep my ear to ground in the future when someone mentions Cantrel. I’m curious to see what’s he’s going to throw our way in the near future.
