Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is a 2023 American superhero movie centered around the beloved Marvel Comics superhero team, the Guardians of the Galaxy. This film was brought to life by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. The film was directed by James Gunn (the same person who directed the first two Guardians of the Galaxy films).

In the film, the beloved band of misfits are looking a bit different these days. Peter Quill is still reeling from the loss of Gamora and he must rally his team around him to defend the universe along with protecting one of their own. This is a mission that, if not completed successfully, could quite possibly lead to the end of the Guardians (as we know them).

The film features performances by Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Will Poulter, Sean Gunn, Chukwudi Iwuji, Linda Cardellini, Nathan Fillion and Sylvester Stallone.

There’s probably a lot that you don’t know about this film, but today my aim is to change that…

Here are 15 Interesting Facts You Might Not Have Known About Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

1. The film sets the record for the most make-up appliances used in a single film. More than 23,000 prosthetics are used across more than 1,000 actors in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

2. Nathan Fillion plays Master Karja. Fillion has appeared in each Guardians of the Galaxy film, each time playing a different role. In the first film Fillion voiced CGI character Monstrous Inmate. In Vol. 2 he appeared on film posters in the background as actor Simon Williams (AKA Wonder Man).

3. Karen Gillan accidentally scheduled a couples therapy session on a day she was shooting a scene for this movie and consequently appeared for the session in full Nebula make-up.

4. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol, 3 is the first Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movie to have an uncensored use of “fuck”, in its gerund form. In case you were wondering, a gerund is a word like “swimming” in the sentence “I have always enjoyed swimming.” The term refers to the “-ing” form of a verb when it functions as a noun.

5. The film was released exactly six years after the second Gaurdians of the Galaxy film. This marks the longest gap between an MCU film and its sequel, surpassing the record set by Doctor Strange (2016) and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022), released five years and six months apart.

6. According to production designer Beth Mickle, the Guardians’ new ship, the Bowie, is based on a circular power saw, in honor of Rocket Racoon, a fan of power tools.

7. This film is the 32nd film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

8. According to Jennifer Holland her character is named Kwol (which stands for “Kick-ass Woman Over-Lord.”).

9. One of the songs featured prominently in this film is “No Sleep till Brooklyn” by the Beastie Boys. This song made a brief appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home when Flash sings it changing “Brooklyn” to “Boston” to celebrate his MIT sponsorship. The song is also featured in The Mario Brothers Movie (which also starred Chris Pratt).

10. The film was made on a budget of $250 million. To date it has grossed over $843 million at the box office.

11. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was made available to stream on Disney+ on the 2nd of August 2023.

12.  In this film, Drax refuses to share his zarg nuts with Mantis. This is because in The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special (2022), she ate all of his without permission.

13.  When the girl is running in loops for the High Evolutionary, her long hair does not fall down towards the floor when she is upside down. It stays in place behind her shoulders (defying gravity).

14. The two ships have a huge hole on their sides and yet no one is affected by the vacuum of space unless they “step outside”.

15. The creatures on Counter Earth are mostly evolved from mammals, but one of them is clearly of avian origin; she has breasts, which only mammals have.
