Petrol Cars vs Electric Cars: Which One Should You Buy?

Today, the question of choosing the type of car is as pressing as choosing what to eat for lunch! No more no less. Let’s take a look at the statistics for 2023, according to leading analytical companies LMC Automotive, Jato and Focus2move – in the first quarter of 2023, 20.7 million new passenger cars were sold worldwide.

This is 4.9% more than the same period in 2022. By the way, sales of electric vehicles increased by a quarter and exceeded 2.3 million units compared to 2022.

Tesla Cars

The best-selling car models were Tesla Model Y and Toyota Corolla. Not surprisingly, it is the Tesla model that leads in sales. Thus, one can understand that the choice of the modern buyer falls precisely on the new product of the global automobile industry – the electric car.

Let’s find out why this is so…

Firstly, an electric car is an association with everyone’s favorite flying cars from the future. Overall, this is a clear car design that hardly changes from model to model. There is no other way to describe the large amount of space in the cabin and the modern panel design represented by a large touch-panel.

Perhaps there is an association from childhood, such as riding on a race track, where all the cars were connected through electrical wires, or with entertainment in adulthood, such as driving an electric buggy off-road, along desert sands or through forests.

Moreover, this particular type of entertainment on electric buggies is wildly popular in Dubai today. Arriving in the city, almost the first thing tourists do is explore the sand mounds at high speeds. This is the drive and extreme that all active people strive for. This is why there is a Desert Safari Dubai in the form of tours. If you happen to be planning to visit the UAE in the near future, don’t be shy and check out desert buggy tours.

Let’s not deviate too much from the topic and continue… So, in order to understand which car is right for you personally, I advise you to take a closer look at the method of choosing cars using the example of tourists and residents of Dubai. Before purchasing a car, they rent it.

Therefore, for example, car rental Business Bay is represented by a variety of available cars at reasonable prices and conditions. And specialists from car rental companies are always ready to answer all your questions, because they themselves rent a car from the company where they work, which provides more confidence to those renting them.

However, to make the initial decision easier, let’s compare an electric car and a petrol car. What serious differences do these two types of cars have?

Petrol Cars vs Electric Cars

Petrol Cars vs Electric Cars

Power reserve and refueling

  • Petrol cars usually have a longer range and faster refueling. This can be beneficial, for example, in the desert or on a long journey where charging infrastructure may be limited.
  • Electric cars require charging faster, making an EV home charger installation an essential upgrade for convenience and efficiency.

Availability of fuel

  • Petrol is readily available at gas stations almost everywhere, including desert regions.
  • Electric Vehicle: charging infrastructure is expanding but may still be limited. Before you travel, check for charging stations along your route.

Off-road capabilities

  • Many petrol cars are designed for off-road use, have durable suspensions and powerful engines.
  • While electric SUVs are growing in popularity, their off-road capabilities may still be limited compared to traditional gas SUVs.

Environmental impact

  • Petrol cars emit greenhouse gases that contribute to air pollution and climate change.
  • Electric vehicles produce zero tailpipe emissions, making them more environmentally friendly.

Maintenance and cost

  • Petrol cars usually have a well-established maintenance network and can be cheaper upfront. However, long-term maintenance costs may be higher.
  • Electric vehicles have fewer moving parts and require less maintenance. Although their initial costs may be higher, they often have lower long-term maintenance costs.

Consider these factors and weigh them against your priorities when making your decision. If range, fuel availability and off-road capability are critical, then a petrol car may be the preferred choice.

However, if reducing your environmental impact and reducing long-term maintenance costs are important to you, then an electric car may be a suitable option, provided you carefully plan your routes taking into account the available charging infrastructure.

It is recommended to rent cars and test both types of vehicles before making a decision. And it is best to consult with car experts and reviews of your favorite car brands. They can provide updated information about the latest available car models and their features.
