On the 30th of September I made my way to Fort Schanskop at the Voortrekker Monument in Pretoria to catch another edition of Park Acoustics. It was one of the most anticipated gigs of the month featuring appearances by The Dolphins, Beach Party, Shortstraw, Jeremy Loops and Ashtray Electric. It was also the first time that Park Acoustics had the Sunset Comedy stage featuring comedians like Werner Cloete, Malcolm Ferreira and Chris Forrest. And of course it was also the first time that @BraaiBoy had his own braai stand at Park Acoustics.
Park Acoustics has become huge in Pretoria if you ask me. I only discovered this awesome phenomena in the SA Music scene at the beginning of 2011. Park Acoustics actually started 3 years ago and has grown into a monthly institution on the capital city’s musical calendar. It’s always a fun packed with some awesome live music and good vibes – ask anyone who has been to Park Acoustics and they’ll agree with you.
The gig on the 30th of September was extra special. It was sold out, again. 1,500 people made their way to Fort Schanskop on the day. Unfortunately I missed The Dolphins, but the performances by Shortstraw and Beach Party were thoroughly impressive. The Jeremy Loops performance was just legendary and the Ashtray Electric performance was just pretty damn awesome. The Pretoria crowd were dancing and really getting into the vibe during Jeremy Loops set. There were people dancing on the speakers in front of the stage and folks covered the whole stone walk way to get a better view of him. I have a feeling that we’ll see Jeremy Loops in Gauteng in the near future. The response was just amazing.
The Sunset Comedy Stage also went down pretty well. I was particularly impressed with Chris Forrest – the guy was just bloody hilarious if you ask me and I hope I have a chance to see him perform live again soon. I snapped these photos on the day at Park Acoustics on the 30th of September 2012:
I took plenty of photos at the event, you are more than welcome to check ALL of them out on the Henno Kruger Photography Facebook page. In case you were wondering the next edition of Park Acoustics is happening on the 28th of October and will feature Albert Frost, Napalma, Captain Stu, Yo Grapes and more.
