London-born folk artist Seth Tabatznik released his evocative new single, “We Are Walking Home”, on 30 January 2026 via Moth Music (Mother Of The Heart).
The release arrives at a pivotal moment in his career, as he prepares for a standout performance on the Forest Stage at South Africa’s Retreat Yourself Festival on 20 February, aligning with the launch of his sophomore album Awakening Embers.

Although Seth only began releasing music in 2024, his growth has been swift and measurable. He has already amassed over 200,000 streams across platforms, with previous singles “Shining For Love” and “Choose To Be Alive” earning support from respected tastemakers such as CLASH Magazine and EARMILK. These early endorsements have helped position him as a rising voice within the global indie folk community.
More info about Seth Tabatznik
Raised in London and now based in the mountains of South Africa’s Western Cape, Seth’s music is deeply shaped by place, reflection and intention. His sound blends acoustic folk with elements of medicine music, guided by a reverence for nature and a search for emotional and spiritual grounding. Soulful harmonies and introspective lyrics form the backbone of his work, creating a bridge between ancient wisdom and contemporary songwriting.
Seth’s artistic development has been shaped by meaningful mentorship and musical guidance. He was mentored by Nick Mulvey, who played a formative role in shaping Awakening Embers, and draws inspiration from his guitar teacher, Rainer Scheurenbrand. These influences, combined with lived experience and spiritual exploration, result in compositions that resonate with listeners drawn to artists such as Ian Anderson, Paul Simon and Vance Joy.
Inside the Sound of “We Are Walking Home”
“We Are Walking Home” opens with a striking flute melody before easing into Seth’s calm, reassuring vocals, gently repeating the song’s central refrain.
As the track unfolds, layers of guitar, strings and subtle percussion gradually build. Midway through, the song shifts into a brighter, more rhythmic passage, introducing African-inspired instrumentation that reframes the earlier themes with warmth and momentum.
The Meaning Behind the Song
Reflecting on the track, Seth explains: “I had this lyric in my head for months: ‘We are walking home, into the womb of the universe.’ I didn’t know what to do with it. Then one day I was just fiddling around on the guitar and the whole song came to me in minutes. I couldn’t stop playing it, imagining African vibes to accompany it, similar to Paul Simon’s Graceland.”
“This song is about the time of transformation we are in – the tipping point of all things. A time of chaos and destruction, but also creativity and rebirth; of coming back into our hearts and remembering.”
A Growing Presence on the Live Circuit
Seth’s connection with audiences extends beyond streaming platforms. His live performances have already made a strong impression, including a sold-out debut show at Boschendal Estate in Cape Town and a sold-out performance at Green Note in London’s Camden district. His upcoming appearance at Retreat Yourself Festival is expected to further cement his reputation as a compelling live act.
One to Watch in 2026
With a second album scheduled for release later in 2026, Seth Tabatznik’s trajectory points clearly upward. Combining thoughtful songwriting, spiritual depth and an increasingly international live presence, he is fast emerging as an artist to watch in the indie folk landscape.
