Werner Bekker is thrilled to announce the release of his brand-new EP Love the Texture, Hate the Taste. The EP was released on Friday the 9th of August 2004.
“Nectarines” is the lead single for the EP release and this heartfelt track delves into the complexities of love and loss, encapsulating an array of emotions that Werner has experienced.

Werner Bekker comments on “Nectarines”
“’Nectarines’ was written for someone I love dearly, who sadly is no longer a part of my life. Our paths crossed, and it felt like that would be our reality for all of time. When I wrote this song, I was feeling a lot, experiencing things I had only dreamed of as a young adult, and living a scary and intoxicating soup of exhilarating experiences.”
“I learned how to love with full trust and how to let go of my inhibitions, and for that, I will be forever thankful. The song explores the particulars of this person’s likes and dislikes, my own ideas about how we felt about each other, and our misdoings.”
“They were a safe space, even when I did not know where my life was heading and made me feel closer than I have ever felt with anyone before. In short, it’s a song about how nuanced love can be, from the smallest to the largest feelings and experiences.”
The writing process for “Nectarines” was deeply influenced by Werner’s experiences at an electronic music festival.
Werner Bekker explains
“I started writing ‘Nectarines’ after I had gone to an electronic music festival. I shared some amazing moments with the person I wrote it about and felt closer to them than ever.”
“I really wanted to put that feeling into a song. I knew that we were pushing the boundaries of our own beings and our relationship. We were growing.”
“As it usually is with growth, it made me fearful and excited at the same time. It was one of the most effortless writing sessions I ever had because it came straight from my heart, just like every single conversation, joke, and fight I had with them.”
When Werner Bekker and Dean Salant began producing “Nectarines,” they aimed to merge electronic elements with the acoustic essence of the song.

Werner Bekker explains
“We wanted to have a sort of homage to the setting where I first felt these emotions. We ended up using a rubber bridge guitar, that I had built, for the first part of the song and layering electronic rhythm parts and synths subtly in the background. I love what we ended up with.”
Looking ahead, Werner Bekker is excited to be touring Europe next year during the European spring. Partnering with ROLA, he will be performing across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Additionally,
Werner is working on a new release set to drop upon his return from the tour. Although details are still under wraps, Werner assures fans that he is in the studio almost every day and is in a highly creative phase of his life.
