Johannesburg based singer-songwriter Alexandra May has released her brand new single ‘Typical Girl’. Alexandra co-wrote the track with Dennis Morgan in Nashville last year asking the question “what is typical?”. May says “Getting to know Dennis was amazing”.
Dennis Morgan is an American songwriter and music publisher, best known for writing songs for Aretha Franklin, Faith Hill, Barbara Mandrell, and Eric Clapton. He has also published hit songs by Garth Brooks, All-4-One, Feargal Sharkey, and Trisha Yearwood.

All through their conversations they jotted notes of phrases and words that piqued their interest. They then built this song based on those notes and Alexandra’s life. From morning until midnight, with diet drinks and a visit to Morgan’s favourite burger joint, Alexandra left the studio richer and with a new song.
The song was produced during Lockdown by Sloani. Everything was done remotely with Alexandra, each having a studio set up in their homes. In making the song come to life Sloani took unusual/quirky lyrics and made something pretty cool!
