Kagiso Media Radio, one of South Africa’s leading radio broadcasting, audio, and digital publishing companies, has officially rebranded as Kagiso Connect. The new name reflects the company’s expansion beyond radio into research, digital publishing, experiential marketing, and financial advisory services.
A Growing Portfolio of Brands and Services
Kagiso Connect’s portfolio includes market-leading radio stations Jacaranda FM and East Coast Radio, the South African operations of global entertainment brand Time Out, and South Africa’s largest independent digital insurance brokerage, Vouch SA.

Their research and insights division, SoundInsights, has also become a trusted source of audience and media intelligence for marketers and advertisers.
Through parent company Kagiso Media, Kagiso Connect holds non-controlling interests in Kaya FM, OFM, Heart FM, and Gagasi FM. Kagiso Media is wholly owned by Kagiso Tiso Holdings (KTH).
The Meaning Behind the “Kagiso Connect” name
CEO Nick Grubb says that calling the company KM Radio no longer reflected the full scope of their operations. What connects all the brands is their ability to forge human connections and add real value to those relationships. The name Connect resonates with employees and stakeholders while retaining the legacy of the Kagiso brand.
KTH CEO and Kagiso Connect Board Chair Paballo Makosholo adds that while the radio brands consistently perform in audience engagement and revenue, the group has strategically diversified into complementary areas.
The common thread across all Kagiso Connect brands is understanding and serving people excellently, making a positive difference in communities.
A Legacy Rooted in Social Impact
Kagiso Media was established in the early 1990s from Kagiso Trust Investments, a commercial vehicle created to generate long-term financial support for the Kagiso Trust.
The Trust, co-founded by Archbishop Desmond Tutu and other notable South African leaders, continues to play a key role in education and community development in vulnerable areas across the country.
Refreshing the Brand Identity
Alongside the new name and logo, Kagiso Connect has refreshed its corporate identity and launched a new website: www.kagisoconnect.co.za. The rebrand coincides with a company-wide initiative to articulate the values that underpin its culture.
Human Resources Director Wendell Smith explains that Kagiso Connect aims to provide market understanding and strategic guidance to its brands, while also fostering an environment where employees can do their best work. Building a positive, inspiring culture is central to the company’s mission.
Kagiso Connect represents the evolution of a company that has grown from a radio powerhouse into a multi-faceted group, uniting media, research, and advisory services under one purpose: connecting people and creating value across industries and communities.
