Johannesburg-based singer-songwriter, Lee Cole returns to his emotive ballad roots with the brand-new single ‘Emotional’. It’s available to stream on all digital platforms.
Following the success of his previous singles with the debut ‘I Don’t Wanna Wait’, thereafter ‘Pink Dragons’ and most recently ‘Honey, Let Me In’, Lee has managed to create hit after hit with his music. With a trifecta of chart toppers across radio, Lee returns to the sound that launched him with the release of his latest single ‘Emotional’.

Lee Cole explains the inspiration behind “Emotional”
“I wrote ‘Emotional’ earlier in the year after hearing about a close friend’s situation about feeling so lost in your emotions about a relationship, that it feels like you’re drowning. The song is about acknowledging your intuition and emotions in a failing relationship, so that you can make a decision that’s best for you.”
Lee Cole recorded and produced the single in his bedroom studio, showing that he is not just a great writer, but also has incredible production skills.
With the release of the single, Lee also unveils the music video which was filmed by Dream Media, the same company who created the music videos for ‘Pink Dragons’ and ‘Honey, Let Me In’.
Lee delves into the concept behind the video for “Emotional”
“When we first began to conceptualise the music video for ‘Emotional’, we initially thought about showcasing the idea of bottling up your emotions and how that can sometimes feel like drowning. The music video was shot pretty much in Johannesburg, with exception of the end scene being shot in Durban.”
“The bathtub scenes showcase reality and how things appear normal on the surface, and the drowning and beach scenes showcase how bottling those emotions can overwhelm you internally when you choose to suppress them. It’s all one big metaphor about the mental and emotional distress relationships can put people through.”
With each release, Lee has always included a visually inviting music video with a cinematic quality that pulls the viewer into his music. ‘Emotional’ tugs at all the right heart strings as we get lost in another magical release from this remarkable artist.
