Singer-songwriter Majozi has just released his latest single, “Reason” featuring acclaimed rapper Early B. This energetic and heartfelt track is the final single from Majozi’s widely praised album, A Great Exchange which was released in November 2023, marking a high point in his journey of musical collaboration and creative exploration.
Reflecting on how this collaboration came about, Majozi shares, “After I finished all my parts for the song, I felt it was missing something special, and I couldn’t think of anyone better to bring it to life than Early B.”
“He’s not only an incredible artist but also a great guy. This entire project has been about collaboration, and it was amazing to have him on board.”
Majozi and Early B are no strangers to working together
Both of them have previously collaborated with fellow artist Janie Bay. Their artistic chemistry is undeniable, and this latest track demonstrates their combined versatility.
When discussing the creative process for “Reason”, Majozi recalls, “I sent a rough idea over to Loki Rothman, and he worked his magic.”
“Watching him shred on just about any instrument is inspiring. The track has a fun, gospel-inspired production that gives it an uplifting vibe. There’s a clear influence from Chance the Rapper, who I’m a big fan of. I’ve always known Loki was talented, but he really blew me away during the production of this song.”
“Reason” stands out for its unique blend of Majozi’s signature sound and Early B’s Hip Hop influence. As Majozi explains, “What makes this collaboration unique is Early B’s ability to adapt and elevate the music in any situation. He brings a fresh energy to the song, while still staying true to the heartfelt message we wanted to convey.”
Lyrically, “Reason” is deeply personal, touching on themes of mental health, vulnerability, and self-acceptance. “This song is a reminder to everyone – including myself – that it’s okay to feel how you feel and to share those emotions. Ultimately, you are loved and enough.”
The theme of hope is central to “Reason”. According to Majozi, “It’s about taking a deep look at yourself and realising you are enough. It’s the most fun-sounding track on the album, with gospel elements highlighting the message of hope we’re trying to get across.”
As A Great Exchange comes to a close with this final single, Majozi hopes “Reason” will leave a lasting impact on listeners. “I just hope it affects people’s lives positively and lives on long after I’m gone,” he reflects.
