South African music icons Mango Groove are set to return to the Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden this Heritage Day, Thursday, 24 September 2026, where they will headline the Sunset Music Series for an afternoon celebrating the country’s rich musical heritage.

Following the success of their sold-out 40th anniversary celebrations in 2025, Mango Groove will once again bring their unmistakable energy to one of Johannesburg’s most picturesque outdoor venues.

Mango Groove to Celebrate South African Music on Heritage Day

Known for their infectious fusion of Afropop, marabi, kwela and big band sounds, Mango Groove have spent decades bringing South Africans together through music. Their songs have become part of the country’s cultural fabric, connecting generations of fans along the way.

Lead singer Claire Johnston says performing outdoors has a special appeal, particularly when families and friends come together to celebrate South African music and culture.

Heritage Day provides the perfect backdrop for an afternoon of dancing, nostalgia and celebration, with Mango Groove promising to deliver a memorable live experience for fans of all ages.

The Heritage Day performance will feature a selection of Mango Groove‘s much-loved songs, including “Special Star”, “Dance Some More”, “Moments Away” and “Another Country”, among many others.

With their colourful stage production, infectious energy and feel-good sound, the band is set to provide the perfect soundtrack for a Heritage Day celebration.

Enjoy Mango Groove in the Walter Sisulu Gardens

The Sunset Music Series takes place against the spectacular backdrop of the Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden, giving concertgoers the opportunity to enjoy live music while relaxing in a beautiful outdoor setting.

Families and friends can bring picnic blankets and their own food to enjoy throughout the afternoon. Camp chairs and small umbrellas are also permitted, with umbrellas required to be positioned towards the back of the audience area.

Whether you’ve been following Mango Groove since their early days or are discovering their music for the first time, the Heritage Day concert promises an afternoon filled with nostalgia, celebration and the unmistakable sound of South African music.

  • Tickets: R295 for children aged 5-17 and R395 for adults. Ticket prices exclude service fees. Tickets are available via Webtickets.

Important Information for the Mango Groove Concert

  • No own drinks are allowed. Bars will be available on-site.
  • Own food and picnic baskets are permitted, but cooler boxes and glass are not allowed.
  • Camp chairs, picnic blankets and small umbrellas are allowed. Umbrellas must be set up towards the back.
  • No gazebos are permitted.
  • Children under five years old enter free.
  • The event will take place come rain or shine.
  • Tickets are non-refundable.
