Johannesburg is set to welcome a new kind of electronic music experience when The Source Collective lands at Sognage on Friday, 9 October 2026.

Positioned as one of the city’s much-anticipated Afro Tech events, the inaugural experience aims to push the boundaries of what a live electronic music event can be.

The Source Collective Blends Music, Visuals and Storytelling

More than a traditional DJ event, The Source Collective is designed as an immersive audiovisual experience where music, visuals, lighting and storytelling come together to create a cinematic journey.

Every performance will be designed around its own narrative, with the audiovisual elements evolving alongside each artist’s set. Instead of relying on repetitive visual loops, the production aims to create individual cinematic worlds that make audiences feel as though they are stepping into a film rather than simply watching a DJ perform.

Afro House and Afro Tech Take Centre Stage

The Source Collective has carefully curated a lineup of live electronic music performances featuring artists who embody authenticity, musical depth and emotional storytelling.

Guests can expect a selection of Afro House, Afro Tech, Deep House and melodic electronic music from artists known for creating emotional musical journeys.

Attendees can expect a lineup that needs no introduction, with names such Culoe De Song, Gumz x Pansula, Chronical Deep, Da Africa Deep, ISIKO and KGzoo.

Culoe De Song is an internationally acclaimed South African DJ, producer and musician widely recognized as a pioneering figure in global electronic music, specifically known for his deep, emotive and ancestral take on Afro House.

Kgzoo is a rapidly rising South African electronic music artist and producer specializing in Afro House and Afro Deep House. His signature sound draws heavy inspiration from industry giants like Black Coffee and Caiiro.

Afro House, Afro Tech, Deep House and melodic Electronic music is the core of the lineup that has been carefully curated to feature respected names that embody authenticity, musical depth and emotional storytelling.

The Source Collective Is About More Than Music

At the heart of The Source Collective is the belief that music can create meaningful connections between people. The event aims to give audiences more than just a night out, encouraging guests to leave with something they did not have when they arrived.

That could be a new friendship, a fresh perspective, inspiration or simply the feeling of having been part of an unforgettable experience.

The concept was born from two complementary ideas: pushing the creative boundaries of live electronic music through custom audiovisual storytelling, while creating an environment where music becomes a catalyst for genuine connection, reflection and shared experiences.

Returning to the Source

The name The Source Collective reflects the idea of returning to the origins of music, storytelling, rhythm and human connection. It represents reconnecting with something authentic in an increasingly distracted world.

The word “Collective” represents the people involved in creating the experience, from the artists and creatives to the audience and partners. Together, they contribute to something designed to be bigger than any one individual.

The Source Collective Wants to Build a Community

Beyond the music and production, The Source Collective aims to create a community built around creativity, curiosity, respect and meaningful experiences.

The vision is to create an environment where strangers can become friends, music becomes a shared language and audiences leave feeling inspired by both the artists and the people around them.

Everything from the audiovisual production to the overall atmosphere has been designed with intention, reinforcing the event’s focus on connection as much as entertainment.

Johannesburg’s Afro Tech Scene Gets a New Experience

The Source Collective was founded by a team passionate about pushing the creative boundaries of live electronic music while creating experiences that genuinely bring people together.

The project brings together a love of music, storytelling, production design and community, with the goal of introducing a new standard for immersive audiovisual events in Johannesburg.

Johannesburg has established itself as an influential city for Afro House and Afro Tech, and The Source Collective aims to contribute to that legacy while celebrating the creativity, artistry and cultural significance of South Africa’s electronic music scene.

The Vision Behind The Source Collective

Founder Zach Sher says the project began with the belief that music can do more than entertain, with the power to move people, connect strangers and create lasting memories.

The inaugural event represents the beginning of a much larger vision for The Source Collective, with audiences invited to experience the concept for themselves as it makes its Johannesburg debut.

Food and beverage options will be available throughout the event. Lifestyle activations, installations, partnerships and brand collaborations may also form part of the experience, with further announcements to follow if confirmed.

The Source Collective also welcomes conversations with brands, organisations and creative partners that share its interest in immersive experiences, innovation, music and community.

With its combination of Afro Tech, cinematic audiovisual production and a strong focus on human connection, The Source Collective is set to offer Johannesburg’s electronic music audience something distinctly different.

Take note that this an 18+ event, but guests under the age of 18 can attend if they are accompanied by a responsible adult. Doors open at 6 PM on the night and the event ends at 1:30 AM.

Tickets are on sale now via Quicket, with prices starting at R200.
