Great News! Middelvinger has just dropped a kick-ass summer party anthem entitled “Good Times”. It’s a lekker tune that will definitely get you moving around the room.
Having been a background player in the SA music industry for almost two decades, Middelvinger (real name Jéan Labuschagne) crafted the reputation as somewhat of a mythical figure, providing lyrical inspiration to more than a few artists during the rapper’s early days of dealing weed in and around the CBD.
His debut album Boland Bad Boys Vol. 1., recorded at Fred Den Hartog’s (Die Heuwels Fantasties) Cape Town studio, The Nothing Club, saw him collaborate with numerous heavyweight artists from Jack Parow to Distruction Boyz and his newest single is no different, seeing him team up with SA music icon, Mango Groove’s Claire Johnston, for the summer anthem, “Good Times”.

Middelvinger explains how “Good Times” came together
“This song was one of the best tracks I’ve ever recorded. Having Claire jump on the track was also so surreal, I never thought I’d get the honour of working with South African music royalty like her and she just took the track to a whole other level.”
Middelvinger’s searing raps merged with Claire Johnston’s songbird-like quality on the chorus, is transcendent enough to make you forget the chaos of 2020, and will have you counting down the days until summertime.
“Good Times” is without a doubt one of the most uplifting releases of the year, bound to make appearances on many a summer soundtrack. Don’t sleep on it. Crank it up below and you’ll find out why you won’t be able to sleep on it (even if you tried).
