South African singer-songwriter The Bird returns with “It’s Just Begun”, a heartfelt and uplifting new single inspired by the unexpected turns that can shape our lives and the belief that an ending can often be the beginning of something meaningful.
Written in Zimbabwe in March 2026, the song was born during a period of reflection, change and renewed perspective.
Away from the familiar, The Bird found herself reflecting on the experiences that make us who we are – love, pain, mistakes, happiness and the unexpected twists that life can bring.
Written by Bianca Le Roux and produced by Olly Vans, “It’s Just Begun” continues The Bird’s personal approach to songwriting, transforming lived experiences and vulnerability into music filled with hope.
The Bird’s “It’s Just Begin” is a Song About New Beginnings
At its core, “It’s Just Begun” is about giving yourself permission to move forward without ignoring the past. While our experiences become part of our story, they don’t have to dictate what happens next.
“Everything we go through amounts to the people we are today. The challenges, the mistakes, the heartbreak and the joy all become part of our story. ‘It’s Just Begun’ is about embracing that story and choosing to keep moving forward with love and kindness. Sometimes what feels like the end of one chapter is really the beginning of another.” says The Bird
Zimbabwe’s Influence on “It’s Just Begun”
Zimbabwe plays an important role in the story behind the single. The change of scenery and pace gave The Bird the opportunity to step away from the familiar, reflect on her experiences and find inspiration in a deeply personal moment.
That reflection ultimately became a song with a universal message – one that encourages listeners to look beyond what has already happened and remain open to what might still lie ahead.
Rather than suggesting that life needs to be perfect, “It’s Just Begun” embraces its imperfections. The song speaks to anyone who has had to start over, take another chance, trust an unexpected connection or simply believe that something beautiful could still be waiting around the corner.
With its focus on honest storytelling, emotion, travel and personal transformation, “It’s Just Begun” further establishes The Bird’s identity as a South African singer-songwriter with a deeply personal voice.
