South African rock icons Tree63 have officially signaled their return to the forefront of the music scene with the release of their brand-new single and music video, “Voyage.”
Serving as the title track for their highly anticipated eighth studio album, also titled Voyage, the new release marks a significant milestone for the band as they prepare for their first full-length album in over a decade, set to drop on June 26, 2026.
A Fresh Sound for a New Chapter
“Voyage” captures Tree63 at a creative high point, blending the band’s signature rock roots with 80s-inspired synth hooks, atmospheric soundscapes, and an epic chorus.
Produced by acclaimed engineer Dave Langemann in collaboration with frontman John Ellis, the track balances a sense of nostalgic warmth with fresh sonic ambition.
The upcoming album, Voyage, is the first to be recorded on South African soil in many years. Written entirely by John Ellis following his 2022 relocation to Cape Town, the record delves into profound themes of endurance, faith, doubt, and the emotional realities of modern life.
It serves as a candid reflection on Ellis’s own journey of rediscovery, both as an artist and an individual.

The Evolution of Tree63
Originally formed in Durban in 1997, Tree63 quickly ascended to become one of South Africa’s most successful musical exports. Throughout the early 2000s, the band earned widespread international acclaim, securing multiple US Billboard No. 1 radio hits, a prestigious Dove Award for Rock Album of the Year, and performing for massive audiences across the globe.
After a hiatus following their 2015 album Land, the band has been revitalized. With a stellar new lineup featuring John Ellis on vocals and guitar, Angus Warden on drums, and Deon Knipe on bass, Tree63 is charting a bold, invigorated course.
Reaffirming a Legacy
This release follows the successful April rollout of the lead single “How Much Longer?,” which provided fans with an early taste of the band’s dynamic new edge. With “Voyage,” Tree63 reaffirms their place as one of South Africa’s most enduring musical acts, proving that their ability to craft meaningful rock music remains as potent as ever.
