Werner Bekker releases new EP: “In my cluttered head”

Werner Bekker has released his brand-new EP ‘In my cluttered head’. The EP was written during the course of hard lockdown in 2020 and is a culmination of the ups and downs Werner experienced during that time. This release comes after a challenging 2020 and a string of successful single releases which having accumulated to over 300,000 streams across platforms,

Werner recalls the creativity and inspiration behind the songs on “In My Cluttered Head”

“’In my cluttered head’ was conceived and recorded during the hectic year that was 2020. I, like almost everyone else around me, was confined to my home. I was forced to approach my writing and recording process from a whole new angle and thus started writing, producing and recording in my own make shift studio in our backyard.”

“I found myself drifting more and more to the point where I was living almost completely in my head, I hated and enjoyed it. On the one hand I could focus almost exclusively on my creativity and on the other I was hardly keeping track of the days of the week. In short, my head got so cluttered with ideas and at some point it just started spilling out onto paper, chords and later fully produced songs.”

“I was super lucky to have the help of studio legends, Brent Quinton and Brian O’Shea to guide and ground me. I feel like this EP is something new and something that every person in today’s day and age can relate to; being confined to the extent that you are living in your own cluttered head.”

‘In my cluttered head’ includes previously released singles ‘To Memory’, ‘It’s You’, ‘Howling’ and the most recent ‘Thin Line’ which was released on Friday the 12th of March 2021 with its music video.

Werner Bekker tells us more about the EP

“Every single song in this EP came from a different phase in my life, the ideas I had, have and will have, came out to play with each other and in the end this collection of songs came out. At times it can be very hard to explain how the writing process works. It often feels like the songs all reside within your head, lying dormant, until some strange turn of events coaxes the words and melodies from their hiding place.”

“To me this EP very much displays the state of my mind over the last two years, the ups, the downs and everything in between. We also decided to revisit some earlier releases because we felt like there was still more to explore within the recording process. I am so glad that we did, because in the end I feel that songs like ‘Let it Go’ came to their true right.”

“There is something about sitting in a cluttered home studio recording a song that is so personal. It’s like the walls, floors, windows and ceilings are all sharing the collective scenes that they have been witness to. To me it is a very big difference in the overall feel of the songs and recordings, they feel more real, tangible, sort of like sitting next to a close friend and listening to them relay stories of their life.”

When you’re listening to any song from Werner Bekker, the passion and emotions – whether it’s from a happy or sad space – can be felt in every piece of his music. I have no doubt about that.
