What is the Best Pallet Wrapper for your packhouse? It’s a fact that preparing pallets for storage or transport is a daily task in many busy packhouses. How well those pallets are wrapped can create a big difference to product protection, load stability, staff workload, and overall efficiency when dispatching.
Different packhouses have different wrapping techniques and requirements. The right Pallet Wrapper should suit your pallet dimensions, daily output, floor space, and preferred level of automation.
Start With Your Daily Pallet Volume
Start by looking at how many pallets leave your packhouse every day. If your operation handles a moderate number of loads, a semi-automatic machine may provide the consistency you need without the cost of full automation.
As pallet volumes increase, wrapping speed becomes more important. Fully automatic machines can limit operator input and help keep loads moving without slowing down grading, packing, or dispatch.
Look At Film Control And Consistency
The quality of hand wrapping can change from one operator to another. This can lead to some pallets being overwrapped and others receiving too little film
Using the right pallet wrapper makes film application more consistent from one pallet to the next. This pre-stretch control can reduce unnecessary film use without compromising load stability.
This becomes more useful in packhouses wrapping large numbers of similar pallets every day.
Think About Your Existing Workflow
The machine should also fit naturally into the packhouse layout. Think about pallet flow, forklift routes, available floor space, and how wrapped loads move to storage or dispatch. Even a fast wrapper can create delays if it is installed in the wrong location.
Packhouses planning future automation should also consider whether the equipment can work alongside conveyors, palletisers, strapping systems, or other end-of-line machinery.
So, Which Pallet Wrapper Is Best?
For moderate pallet volumes, a semi-automatic machine can provide a practical balance between automation and cost. High-throughput packhouses may benefit more from a fully automatic system that requires less operator input.
The right Pallet Wrapper ultimately depends on how many pallets you process, what those loads look like, and how the machine fits into your existing packaging line.
FAQs
Can a pallet wrapper handle different pallet sizes?
Many systems can accommodate a range of pallet dimensions. However, the machine specifications should always be checked against the largest, tallest, and heaviest loads your packhouse regularly handles.
Is a fully automatic pallet wrapper always better?
Not necessarily. Fully automatic equipment is well suited to high-volume operations, while a semi-automatic machine may be more practical for packhouses with moderate throughput and lower automation requirements.
