25 years on and WONDERboom remain one of South Africa’s longest running bands. Although rock is the root the band have never been limited to one sound. Delving into multiple genres as diverse as funk, punk, pop and afro-dance, this band remains one of the country’s finest, and most engaging live entities.

Celebrating their 25th anniversary, the band have personally selected their favourite tracks, creating  a compilation of songs aptly titled WONDERboom 25. Spanning from their tender formative years to now, this re-mastered collection includes the brand new single, Prodigal Son, a track which is very close to their hearts.

WONDERboom Guitarist Martin Schofield explains “Prodigal Son”

“Feels like a song for the times, a little sad, a little prophetic with a dose of sweet optimism. Musically and lyrically honest, searching for some kind of acceptance, peace of mind. I’m really proud of this track”

    Vocalist Cito adds

“Some dreams are worth dying for. For me, ‘Prodigal Son’ is pretty much a homecoming song and, after what seems a like lifetime of chasing your dreams and finally catching them, everyone has forgotten you.”

WONDERboom 25 will be released on the 19th of November via Just Music. In addition to the album release, the band will shortly be releasing a documentary, capturing their illustrious story named, WONDERboom: 25 For Life, directed by Ivyann Moreira-Schofield.
