Melting Resonance and Yum Yuck join forces on “The place I use to hide”, a transatlantic collaboration that began with an instrumental crafted in New York City and was completed with lyrics and vocals recorded in Cape Town.

The track’s moody, wistful energy explores themes of isolation, frustration, and personal rebirth—no longer running from hardships or love, but choosing to confront them head-on.

The Place I use to Hide Cover

A Textured Sonic Landscape

The sound of “The place I use to hide” is rich and layered, combining intimate vocals with warbled acoustic guitars, a groovy drum-and-bass interplay, and drifting synthesizers. A surprise saxophone outro elevates the production further, adding depth and unexpected warmth to the experience.

Reflective Lyricism

Yum Yuck’s lyrics reflect a personal reckoning, layered with emotion and poetic imagery:

“It’s been quite a year
I took a train out from the sand bank into to the Wild West
I faced my fears
I took your bullets, took your best shot right to the chest”
