The Amazon FireStick is a dongle device that turns your LED or LCD TV into a source of premium content. With a wide range of both free and paid applications to keep users entertained all the time, there is no downside to using the device.
Before delving into the best Amazon FireStick apps to entertain viewers, it is essential to talk about how viewers can protect themselves while using the device. Using a Virtual Private Network, VPN with your Amazon FireStick is the best way to protect your data online or streaming from the internet.
There are VPN providers that offer free services. Avoid them at all costs. Search the best VPNs, examine their strengths and weaknesses then get the one you think is best for you.
Here are 7 of the best entertainment apps for your Amazon FireStick
To enjoy these apps, you might need to jailbreak your FireStick.
1. Kodi
Kodi is a media player that allows viewers to stream various content for free. It is compatible with multiple devices. It also has the advantage of being compatible with different devices, the Amazon FireStick inclusive.
Kodi is one of the most popular streaming apps because it offers diverse content like music, documentaries, sports, movies, live programs, and so on for free. Depending on the device you use, the method of app download and installation.
Kodi is available on the Amazon Store yet, but you can download the APK file and install it manually from trusted third-party sites. Another thing to note is the Kodi app works best when you install its plugins, also known as add-ons.
These add-ons are for sports, live TV, documentaries, music, movies, TV shows, and many more. All you have to do is search for the best add-ons for the specific category you want, install them and get streaming excellence.
Examples of Add-ons are; Exodus Redux, Venom, The Magic Dragon (for movies and TV shows), cCloud TV, Selfless Live (for Live TV), and Sports Devil (for sports). Installing these add-ons to your Kodi improves the streaming experience.
While Kodi offers excellent value for a free app, it is not easy to use. Its user interface is also not as engaging as other streaming apps, even though it is possible to download more interesting ones. Overall, one can never go wrong with Kodi.
2. Netflix
There is no app today that symbolizes entertainment like Netflix. Unlike Kodi, you have to pay for Netflix services; this is not a drawback, as Netflix is without a doubt one of the best Amazon FireStick apps.
Netflix has a throve of fresh content that keeps subscribers glued to their TVs. Netflix also has a media channel that has the best classics for all lovers of old movies. You should also know that you can use the same account on different devices by subscribing to Netflix on your Amazon FireStick or Fire TV.
Netflix offers a one-month free trial. There is also the possibility of using your VPN to access other countries’ versions of Netflix.
3. Crunchyroll
Crunchyroll is for people who enjoy Japanese Anime or other Asian movies. There are more than twenty-five thousand episodes of Anime on Crunchyroll. What that means is a lot of TV time. Since most Anime shows are in Japanese, Crunchyroll translates them before putting them on their app.
Crunchyroll offers a 4-day free trial, but it is essentially a paid service. They have permission from the original content producers to upload their videos, so there is no problem with content theft. Crunchyroll is available in the Amazon store, so getting it is not a complex process.
4. Disney+
Disney+ offers all Disney, Pixar, Star Wars, and Marvel movies that can only be called a whole lot of entertainment. Disney+ requires a subscription, but it is an excellent way to be entertained.
5. HBO NOW
Unlike HBO GO which needs a subscription on either cable or Amazon Prime, HBO NOW is available for download on its own. This app offers superb value for money because it offers tons of original content. There is one snag though, HBO NOW is only available in the US.
However, if you use a good VPN, you can change your location to one in America and enjoy this app.
6. CatMouse APK
This app is probably one of the many clones of the now-defunct Terrarium TV. That doesn’t take anything away from this app though, CatMouse is a great way to stream app trending content like movies and TV shows.
There are many HD videos available on the app, and though it is new, CatMouse is already gaining popularity. It is safe to say that if you need high-quality content, then CatMouse is a sure bet.
7. Stremio
Stremio is one of the best and uncomplicated methods to stream movies, TV shows, sports, and so much more. Stremio and Kodi are similar but also differ in some ways. Stremio is easier to use and has a friendlier user interface.
It is compatible with a wide range of devices, just like Kodi. All add-ons on the Kodi app are stored locally on the device you download it on, which means if you log in to another device, you have to download the add-ons all over again.
However, this is not the case with Stremio. All add-ons are downloaded online so that you can access them on any device you use. This saves you valuable space on your Amazon FireStick to add other apps. You have to subscribe to Stremio to enjoy its full service.
Downloading add-ons on this streaming app requires just a click, go to the add-on section and download whatever add-on you want.
Conclusion
The Amazon FireStick is excellent for stream entertaining content on your TV without having to buy a smart TV. There various apps available on the device to keep you entertained for as long as you want. Some of these apps are free, while some require a fee. What they all have in common though, is premium entertainment, no what your tastes might be.
