Canadian singer-songwriter Billy Raffoul is no stranger to South African audiences, and with his latest release, he’s cementing his place even further.
His new single “Honey,” created alongside Booshle G and Tatum Tides, is a collaboration that feels both spontaneous and deeply rooted in shared musical journeys.
A Song a Decade in the Making
Remarkably, the track came together in just one afternoon, nearly 14,000 kilometres from Raffoul’s hometown. What started as a guitar riff he wrote back in 2015 finally found its moment.
While in studio together in East London, the trio shaped the song’s lyrics and melody, drawing from their individual paths in life and music that ultimately led them to that creative meeting point.

Billy Raffoul is building a Connection with South African Fans
Raffoul’s connection to South Africa began in 2024 when he performed at Neon Dreams’ Dreaming Out Loud Festival. His first show in Johannesburg at Sognage left a lasting impression. The audience sang along to every word, making it a defining moment that sparked an ongoing relationship with local fans.
That initial experience led to his return in June 2025, where he found even more connection with South African audiences. Each show turned into a full-blown singalong, and along the way, Raffoul built lasting friendships that continue to draw him back.
Upcoming Tour and Festival Performances
His latest visit follows the release of two new albums, both centred on raw honesty and emotional depth. Looking ahead, his upcoming The Homebody Tour promises a more expansive live experience. This time, he’s bringing a full band setup, including a drummer, and fans can expect a richer, more dynamic sound on stage.
Raffoul is also set to perform his first South African festival slot at Splashy Fen, marking yet another step in what’s becoming a strong and lasting connection with the local music scene.
