After two consecutive radio hits, Jamie-Lee Sexton returns with yet another powerful single as she releases ‘Medicine Woman’, the third single off her highly anticipated EP of the same title which also releases today.

It’s a summer pop anthem with a deep empowering message and a dancefloor-worthy beat that will  introduce fans to the eccentric and mystical side of Jamie-Lee.

More info about “Medicine Woman”

‘Medicine Woman’ is bursting with moving organic rhythms and undeniable hooks set throughout an electro-pop backdrop that carries a distinctive retro feel. The song begins with a catchy nostalgic ‘70s era guitar strum that nests itself inside your head and creates an itch to move. Mystical guitar plucks, middle-eastern chants and bass-heavy synths blend future with past and make this single a timeless melodic earworm that is bound to have you humming along long after the song has ended.

Jamie-Lee’s signature raspy vocals and smooth tones come through in this track, which is written with powerful and poignant lyrics that hold a lot of depth.

Jamie-Lee Sexton comments on “Medicine Woman”

“Making this song was a spiritual and mystical experience for me, with all the stories from my dreams and life. Many don’t refer to women with unique gifts, special skills, artistic abilities or spiritual connections as “medicine women”. But through my own journey and personal experiences, I have come to realise that every woman is a medicine woman in her own right. I discovered that I am one too – and my music is the medicine I prescribe.”

The song was produced by multi-platinum selling producer Daniel Baron, who’s vision makes the track a sonic firework display that will bound to have listeners sit up and listen. The track is accompanied by an official music video set in a natural setting, bringing to light the power of women. All women from different cultures and backgrounds come together for this powerful and empowering performance which is a not-so-subtle reminder of just how special, strong and magnificent women are.

This message inspired the title of Jamie-Lee’s new EP, which includes her previous singles ‘It’s True’ and ‘We Need To Talk’. On the five-track project, Jamie-Lee continues creating pop hits inspired by her experiences in a current, catchy and sincere way.

Jamie-Lee Sexton explains

“‘Medicine Woman’ encapsulates the true essence of my journey that has culminated into this EP. Every song is a part of my life. Part of the hard times, dark times and ends with me ultimately finding the light. It’s hasn’t been easy, but it’s very necessary to speak my truth and share it with the world. I have taken my time with this work to fully understand what it is I want to be saying in my music. That message for me is: I see you, I am you. Let’s walk together.”

The EP, which debuted at number one on the South African iTunes chart, includes two other brand-new tracks that are just as powerful and moving. ‘Stand Up’ is an inspirational titan-of-a-song which is all about finding the strength to get back up after taking a fall. The track’s inspiring lyrical approach, set on a ‘90s back beat, features bright coloured hooks and sees Jamie-Lee singing right from her chest with rich rasp.

“This track has an inspiring backstory for me and all it needed was a super cool beat, which I think we captured,” Jamie-Lee Sexton explains.

‘We Are Brave’, the only ballad on this EP, stands out thanks to Jamie-Lee Sexton’s raw and heartfelt vocals sung on top of haunting piano chords. The track represents ones bravery, healing and courage and how one can overcome anything even after some less brave times in life.

“I wrote ‘We Are Brave’ because, sometimes, music says what people struggle to with words. I wanted to remind people that when we fall, we have to get up again. That makes us braver than we were to start off with,” Jamie-Lee Sexton states.

Jamie-Lee Sexton’s ‘Medicine Woman’ single and EP is now available on all major digital music platforms now. Download or stream it HERE.
